Latinas In Progress©
HWNT Fort Worth’s esteemed education series, Latinas in Progress© (LIP©), collaborates with area universities and colleges to motivate graduating high school Latinas towards achieving their dreams of a college degree. LIP not only acclimates participants and their parents with the rigors of college, but equips them with vital tools that will enrich their personal and professional lives.
Latina mentors and LIP alums eagerly share their personal struggles and triumphs to create powerful visions of achievement for our ambitious young ladies. They engage in workshops such as College 101, Writing Skills, Life Skills, Assertiveness Training and Civic Engagement. In the process, they develop networks, social skills, confidence and increase their community involvement by volunteering a minimum of 12 hours at community events and charities such as:
Dia de los Muertos Gala
HALOS Christmas Dance/Fundraiser
Feed the Homeless Drives

The Class of 2017 brings a record number of participants from all over the DFW metroplex. Over 100 Latina high school seniors are actively participating in LIP. They are enthusiastic ambassadors of our cherished program and continually encourage our volunteers to further our mission to Educate, Encourage and Empower Latinas.
Our year culminates at our Latinas in Progress© scholarship and awards brunch held on April 29th at the Tarrant County College District- Trinity River Campus. We'll recognize students who successfully complete the LIP program and present them with scholarships from our charitable members, donors and universities.
Our LIP girls and alums are incredible leaders and continuously amaze us with their growth and talents.
We learn as much from them as they do from us!
